This week end, after the right bank and Saint Emilion last week, the Wine Trotters logically decided to leave to discover the left bank and the famous Medoc. This is how we discovered the Château de Panigon, located near Lesparre-en-Médoc, in the north of the Medoc
Château de Panigon and Chateau Amour extend their estate on 90 hectares in AOC Médoc, grouped around and close to the exploitation center. 50 hectares are currently graded and in production.
The origins of the Castle of Panigon would be prior to the French Revolution. The first edition of the Cocks guide, Bordeaux and its wines, dated 1850, already mentions Panigon, while the second, in 1868, cites it among the Crus Bourgeois.
Born out of a selection of plots, the Château Amour was born with the goal of declining a brand in Médoc characterized by fruit and gluttony.
The Château Amour was born in 2009 and was subsequently classified Cru Bourgeois in 2012.
Even today, the operation of the Castle of Panigon remains entirely family.
Since 2006, the daughter and the son-in-law of the owners, Corinne Leveilley-Dadda and Georges Dadda, have taken over the management of the Château, determined to produce red wines aimed at excellence in the purest respect of the Medoc tradition.
Progressive cultivation of certain plots, rational treatment of vines, renewal of machinery, etc.
The will of the new management is part of a modern and quality approach, in order to exploit at best an exceptional terroir.
